Updated 12/20/03 - guess what??? I have my new family!
Life is great. You'll see what I mean when you see these pictures:

Isn't that great? Do they look happy or what? We had a busy day on my "gotchya" day. Aunt Jan packed up my bag with all my toys and medicine and off we went. She kept telling me that my new mom giggled when we talked about me, and that they loved me already. Well, as soon as I met them, I was wagging my tail and giving them kisses. This girl knows what's good for her!
We went home and I met Munsel, our kitty.

I kind of like all the attention I'm getting. My new dad and I have one big thing in common. We are both retired! That means we get to stay home and be together a lot. I think I'm going to like this. If the first day goes like what you see in the picture below:

I am going to be doing a lot of this:

I think this new forever home stuff is pretty cool, and I want to thank all the people who were rooting for me.
And while I might be known as "Iris" to the folks who loved me while I was in rescue, I think everyone thinks that Nessie is a good name for a Scottish lass like myself.
I think I got a wonderful Christmas present this year!
Love, Nessie (the dog formerly known as Iris)
Updated 12/6/03 - I got a bath and haircut!
Don't I look pretty??

Aunt Jan said we were going to Aunt Linda's and I was going to get all beautiful. Aunt Linda cleaned me up really well and I was a good girl on the grooming table (mostly). I don't like my head or neck touched and when you see the next picture, you'll see why.

I came from a puppy mill, and Aunt Linda found many, many sores on my neck, back and ears where I was bitten or scratched, and the scabs had not finished healing. I can't wear my collar now for a while until I heal a bit. Aunt Jan has some ointment she's putting on my owies.
Thank you Aunt Linda for making me look like a real Scottie girl. I feel so much better and I have been frapping around the house. A day at the spa makes a girl feel wonderful.

I am a Scottie girl who deserves a wonderful life. My life until a couple of weeks ago was in a puppy mill. I have probably had more puppies than I should, and for all intents and purposes, I should be a dog who does not like anyone. But you couldn't be more wrong. My Aunt Kathy got me started on my new life and made me feel loved, and I think I have liked everyone I've met! Thanks Aunt Kathy!
I love other dogs and get along with them just fine. I need a home where someone can give me a lot of attention and love me for the sweet girl I am, and not the picture-perfect Scottie that's seen in magazines. I am just getting the hang of this house stuff, and I think I'm going to like it. We take things a step at a time and today, Aunt Jan gave me a treat! She told all the dogs it was time for that and they all got really excited. She broke mine into a couple of pieces and it was really good. Aunt Kathy got me started walking on a leash and that is fun. I love walks. I also like to go outside and explore in the yard, but I watch my people and come right back in! I don't want to be left alone again.

I have been spayed, so no more puppies for this gal. I also had my toofers cleaned and I'm all up-to-date on my vaccinations. Oh, and none of that awful heartworm business for me. I'm just fine! My birthdate is January 19, 1998. That makes me a Capricorn!
I like car rides, and I love sleeping in a little dog bed. I've been playing with some things that Aunt Jan calls knuckle bones, and they are way cool. I need a haircut really bad, but I have to wait until my stitches are out from my operation.

I promise to be a good girl and love you forever. I need a lot of love and assurance myself. I also need to be shown what it means to be a girl who will go outside or let you know when I need to do my business. I think I can get the hang of it.
Love, Iris
