A Scottie Named Annie

This is a little story about a girl named Annie.  Normally, these Memory of Monroe dogs write it in their own words, but I'm too shy so Aunt Jan is helping me.   I have a story that is unfortunately pretty bleak in the beginning.  I was in a puppy mill in South Dakota for all of my ten years.  Some really nice ladies, Julie and Faith got me out of there along with three other dogs, Sam, Sadie, and MacMurphy. We went to the vet and got all cleaned up and then went into foster care.  While we were in foster care, our personalities were assessed, and I became known as the little church mouse.  I am happy just hanging back and taking it all in!

I was in pretty rough shape.  Aunt Jan says I'm the most timid Scottie girl she's ever had in rescue, but I think I'm starting to come along and enjoy things.  I was at Aunt Jan's house for quite awhile, and I loved being with the other dogs.  I learned a lot from them, like how to go potty outside, and we always frapped when Aunt Jan got home from work.

One night, I was all happy and I didn't know anyone was watching me and I WAGGED MY TAIL!  Geez, you'd think I had ran a 50 mile marathon or something.  Everyone made such a big deal out of it.

I love my food and do a little dance when I get fed.  I take one of my paws and put them up in the air just a bit, like I'm saying, "Oh come on and feed me already".

Well, Aunt Jan knew I needed a home, but it couldn't be just any home.  They had to have dogs, and she wanted them to know about Scotties.  The right home always comes along when it's the right time, and I got my right time.  I found my special forever home with a family who lives in northern Minnesota.  And, so I don't have to put up with this awful weather in the winter, they're going to take me to Tucson with them each winter!  Is that great or what?  I think it's fitting, as I am retired too!

Here's my three siblings, Dearie, Angus and Neddy, and a close up of Dearie on the right

I've really had a lot of changes in my life.  Now one of the changes I really like is riding around in my family's new Prius, a hybrid car!  It's easy on the gas!

I've got a wonderful life and a wonderful family.  This rescue thing isn't so bad after all, huh?
Love, Annie
